A prodigy likened to Mozart, Chopin had been playing piano and composing music since he was a small child. He was his own worst critic, and did not publish several of his works during his lifetime. Most of his pieces are for solo piano, but others are for cello, violin, flute, piano and voice, or piano and orchestra.
